The plugin README no longer documents the /plugin marketplace update and /reload-plugins pair, so the guides now point at the fleet pick-up (vrg-host plugins, vrg-vm update --all) and the releasing.md runbook, and describe what the README's Update section covers. Ref vergil-project/vergil-tooling#3886

vrg-host plugins and vrg-vm update --all verify only the marketplace repo and ref, so both guides now say to confirm the installed version with claude plugin list --json and link the plugin README's Verify the update subsection. Ref vergil-project/vergil-tooling#3886

The shared plugin refresh updates only the marketplaces it re-adds, by name, never an undeclared one. Update the Switching an existing machine paragraph to match, and rewrite the stale marketplace-update troubleshooting entry for the failure that can still occur.

  • docs(consuming-repo-setup): clarify which marketplaces the refresh leaves alone

Say that claude-plugins-official can be re-added while undeclared, that a plugin from an unmanaged marketplace is still updated, and that an earlier add error for the same marketplace is the one to fix first.

  • docs(consuming-repo-setup): match the refresh's add-then-update order and its add error label

The refresh re-adds every marketplace before updating any, and a failed add is reported with the marketplace's source rather than its name.

  • docs(consuming-repo-setup): rewrap the marketplace troubleshooting entry

  • docs(consuming-repo-setup): describe the add error's source as what the refresh tried to add
